Kerrang Tour Poster Four: Bristol 02 Academy (Limp Bizkit)

The fourth and last Kerrang Poster is to advertise the Bristol date on the tour, and is themed around the band Limp Bizkit headlining the bill. Again this design is a little more 'for the fans' and is based on Bizkits last studio album 'Gold Cobra' I've had loads of fun working on these posters and really enjoyed it, tomorrow I will be uploading a side by side view of the posters for a better look at the combined image. For now, heres the final poster and tribute to the mighty Limp Bizkit!

Kerrang Tour Poster Three: Dublin Olympia (Crossfaith)

The third Kerrang Poster is to advertise the Dublin date on the tour, and is themed around the band Crossfaith on the bill. This time the design isn't as easy to read, but i would hope fans of the band would get it. Crossfaith's music video for Monolith from the Zion EP features the band in an open wasteland style space performing. During the performance a black monolith appears in the sky that appears to take control or hypnotise certain animals, one of which is an Elephant, and was the main inspiration for this design, I also included the Zion Monolith at the top of the image.

Kerrang Tour Poster Two: Cardiff Liverpool 02 Academy (Baby Godzilla)

The second Kerrang Poster is to advertise the Liverpool date on the tour, and is themed around the band Baby Godzilla on the bill. Again it's fairly obvious why Godzilla is featured in the illustration, however it's worth mentioning that i chose the American version of Godzilla (Zilla/Zilla Jr to the hardcore fans) because in my opinion i think it's the best design.

Kerrang Tour Poster One: Cardiff Uni Great Hall (Nekrogoblikon)

So the first poster for the Kerrang Tour Project is finished, this poster is to advertise the Cardiff date. The first poster is themed around Nekrogoblikon, one of the bands on the line up. The band are obviously themed around Goblins and even have one as their mascot which appears in music videos and occasionally on stage with them during live performances. This explains my use of a Goblin in the first poster.

Kerrang Tour Project: Concept and Thumbnail Sketch

I plan to produce four different posters for the Kerrang Tour, each one themed around one of the four bands performing on the Tour. However, that's not all! I've also decided to ensure all four posters, put together, will connect to form one larger image. I may also produce and print one Large banner version of the poster advertising the whole tour using all four images together. So far I have nothing to show other than the simple thumbnail, I don't normally show my work this early on, but it may be interesting to see.

I essentially use the thumbnail sketch as a way to get down my composition quickly and make sure i know it's going to work, it's not always entirely 'readable' to people other than me, as they are sketched so quickly. I will post a comparison between the fully Inked image and the thumbnail sketch as soon as it's finished, so stay tuned!

Favourite Artist Post: Munk One

Alright, so I'm in the early stages of the Kerrang project and like always I'm doing some artist research, Obviously due to the nature of the project I've been looking at numerous gig poster artists. However i felt this guy deserves a special mention.

Munk One has been one of my all time favourite artists and biggest inspirations for a long time, He's been the subject of presentations and essays i've produced for Uni and continues to inspire my own artwork daily. Munk One works primarily with bands in the rock and metal genre producing merchandising artwork, album covers and gig posters. His personal style has been a massive influence on my own and i firmly believe he helped me develop and find my own style through the years. He's even recently worked on some variant covers for the brand new TMNT comics! I love his inking and his use of vibrant colour and Im sure it's evident how this has inspired my own work, choosing an image to go along with this post was difficult, since I love so many but I've gone with this Alexis On Fire Tour Poster.
